Our team took the lead in designing, renovating, and activating a new property for the CRA campus located in Dalton, MA. The project not only expands the capacity of this vital community service provider, but also transforms the fabric of the downtown district of this Berkshires town.
Working hand-in-hand with the CRA, our team led a lengthy community engagement process to understand the needs of the community, and how an expansion of the CRA’s campus might contribute additional tools for community members to further enrich their health, wellness, education, community connection, independence, and self-reliance. This process led to the purchase, renovation, and activation of the Mill + Main property located at 444 Main Street – a turn of the century home built by the Crane family and previously utilized for residential purposes.
With a particular focus on long-term financial sustainability, our team has developed a sound operating plan that will support a healthy financial position for the CRA to adopt the property in a responsible, enduring way. The Mill + Main property plan is designed to not only increase the ability of the CRA to extend their service offerings with the additional campus assets, but to also do it in a way that adds to the financial sustainability of the organization as a whole.
The Mill + Main project exemplifies our approach in conceptualizing, leading, and executing high-impact and sustainable community development projects. You can learn more about the Mill + Main project here.
