Tim Burke

Managing Director

Tim is responsible for sourcing and leading start-up investments and partnering with entrepreneurs on concept exploration and company formation. He also works with community organizations to support Mill Town’s local involvement. Prior to Mill Town, Tim spent seven years in the biotech industry in Cambridge, MA in a variety of finance, planning, and operational roles, most recently with Biogen. Tim began his career in the Financial Leadership Program at United Technologies Corporation.

Tim holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Corporate Finance and Accounting from Bentley University and an MBA from Bentley’s Graduate School of Business. He is a native of Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

David Mixer

Chairman

Dave has extensive experience in startup investing and entrepreneurial activity across the globe. Dave has spent the past 30 years as an entrepreneur and venture capital investor. He was a founding partner of Columbia Capital, a Washington D.C. based venture capital and private equity firm focused on media and internet infrastructure technology investments. Dave also led the founding of Point Judith Capital, Middleland Capital, and several international venture capital firms.

Dave holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Union College in Schenectady, NY and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Dave is a native of Dalton, Massachusetts.

Caroline Holland

Managing Director

Caroline brings over a decade of experience in international business with a heavy focus on defense, security, and geo-political subject matter. Prior to Mill Town, Caroline spent seven years in the defense industry, leading Strategy & Business Development activities at General Dynamics Mission Systems and executing a range of operational roles at The MASY Group, a small business headquartered in the Washington, D.C. metro area.  With Mill Town, Caroline leads a variety of internal start-up concepts, sources investment opportunities, and collaborates as the Mill Town interface on several philanthropic projects.

Caroline holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies and Political Science from University of Richmond, and a Master’s Degree in Security Studies from University of Oregon. She is a native of Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

Kathie Penna

Operations Management

Kathie began her career as an educator, and worked for several years in the field of education before venturing into the sales arena with a local start-up company. She chairs or co-chairs two city commissions, and has several leadership roles in community building and nonprofit organizations. In addition to supporting the team on a variety of projects, Kathie also manages Framework Pittsfield Coworking.
Kathie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Education from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. and is working on a Master’s Degree at American International College. She is a native of Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
