About Mill Town

Mill Town is a Pittsfield-based impact investment and operating company supporting a portfolio of dynamic businesses across hospitality, recreation, real estate, and nonprofit, and community-driven initiatives. Our brands are deeply rooted in community impact and experiential engagement. This internship offers hands-on exposure to real-time marketing strategy across multiple brands and industries — ideal for a creative, motivated self-starter eager to build both portfolio and practical experience.

Position Overview

Mill Town is seeking a passionate, creative, and highly motivated Summer Marketing Intern to support marketing efforts and execute dynamic content strategies across multiple brands. This role is designed for someone who lives and breathes content creation — both visually and in written voice — and wants to learn how storytelling, brand positioning, and digital engagement drive measurable business growth. The intern will play an active role in capturing, creating, and managing social media content across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and other emerging channels. This is not a “sit behind a desk” internship — it requires flexibility to capture content during live business operations, events, and peak engagement hours, which may fall outside of traditional 9–5 schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture photo and video content during live operations and events
  • Draft compelling written copy for social, blog, and campaign support
  • Manage and schedule content across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, others)
  • Align organic content with paid campaigns to reinforce messaging and drive results
  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and reviews in a timely, brand-aligned voice

Community Listening & Brand Insight

  • Serve as the “eyes and ears” of the brand across digital platforms and on-site experiences
  • Track customer sentiment, recurring questions, compliments, and concerns
  • Provide concise qualitative insight summaries to marketing leadership
  • Surface patterns in customer perception: What are they saying? How do they feel? What’s resonating?
  • Act as a liaison between marketing and operating teams to ensure messaging reflects real customer experience

Learning Outcomes

While this is a learning experience, performance will be evaluated against strategic metrics such as:

  • Growth in social media engagement (likes, shares, comments, saves)
  • Increase in reach and impressions on key platforms
  • Contribution to follower growth during campaign periods
  • Timely and consistent content execution
  • Quality and clarity of written copy
  • Alignment of content with paid campaign messaging
  • Ability to identify and capture high-impact content opportunities

These Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are designed to provide learning benchmarks rather than rigid performance quotas.

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is:

Creative

    • Passionate about storytelling and brand-building
    • Comfortable generating fresh content ideas consistently
    • Able to think beyond trends and understand audience psychology

Content Capable

    • Strong written communication skills with attention to tone and clarity
    • Basic photography and video capture/editing skills (iPhone proficiency acceptable; Canva, CapCut, Adobe Suite experience a plus)
    • Understanding of Instagram Reels, Stories, and short-form video content

Digitally Fluent

    • Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, and emerging social platforms
    • Basic understanding of engagement metrics (likes, reach, impressions, conversions)
    • Interest in how organic content supports paid marketing strategy

Professional & Adaptable

    • Comfortable working flexible hours to capture live content
    • Organized and able to manage multiple brands and priorities
    • Self-motivated and proactive
    • Positive, collaborative, and eager to learn

Education

    • Rising Juniors or Seniors pursuing a degree in Marketing or Communications with classes that focus on digital marketing specifically.

What Makes This Opportunity Unique

  • Real portfolio-building experience across established brands
  • Exposure to revenue-driven marketing strategy — not just content posting
  • Opportunity to see how central marketing efforts supports business growth for multiple brands

Compensation

Paid internship $20 per hour
